Italian Designers at Casa Italiano

Street style and Americana has crossed the ocean and begun influencing a fleet of Italian designers.

Nestled between the Art Deco buildings and tropical flora of South Beach, an Italian-Renaissance-style mansion stands out among the rest. The wrought-iron gate, geometric tiles and religious motif murals brings a slice of Italy to Miami. It is the reason why when vacationing with his family, iconic Italian designer Gianni Versace decided to instantly buy the property, and call this mansion his home away from home.

The whimsical nature of the house has inspired many of the fashion elite. The leader of the pack of Italian designers for men is GUCCI, where Alessandro Michele has transformed the house into a vibrant and youthful brand. He obsesses over every detail, using nothing but his imagination. The GUCCI tropical button-down with it’s pink, yellow and blue colors say Miami more than Italy, but the attention to detail is every bit Michele. Attention to detail is just as important to Dean and Dan Caten of DSQUARED2. Their travels influence every collection, but their Italian roots are always celebrated. The Floral Printed Denim jacket is for the modern gentleman. Colorful but not too flamboyant, it is the perfect piece for a short getaway.

A white and blue outfit is the calling card of a man on vacation. The relaxing hues help you lay back and relax from the Amalfi Coast to poolside at the legendary Medusa head pool at Versace’s once home. Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccoli is another Italian designer for men. He is known to learn the rules and then rewrite them, which he has done with these athleisure-style trousers; they are an updated design on the age-old Italian uniform. Pair it with a casual zip-up jacket and you are good to go. Layer a bold print NEIL BARRETT button-down shirt underneath for a traditional Italian touch, one that adds respect and fun to the look

A playful Miami touch is embodied in the matching graphic print MARCELO BULON COUNT OF MILAN bomber jacket and shirt and shorts. Italian elegance is seen in the construction of the garment, while the multi-colored “gothic beach” print is very South Beach. PALM ANGELS Islands Short Sleeve Shirt is another great blend of Italian-American design. The Milan-based brand interprets California street-style with Italian lifestyle. Their Islands Short Sleeve shirt goes contemporary with a red strap on the tropical-motif collared shirt.
