There is a lot of messaging that is both outward and hidden. Can you give us more background about the messaging of Sober, Sober Up, I Love It, 13 , and the Smiley Face Smoking?
N & I:
We are living in a very SOBERING moment right now with the global pandemic and the re-awakening of centuries-old racial tensions which need to be resolved, changed and educated upon. We wanted to create a collection that is authentic with an edge of cool and ease. I LOVE IT is a call to forgive and change. 13, or triskaidekaphobia, is the extreme superstition regarding the number 13. For us both, it’s lucky 13. SMILEY FACE SMOKING is the understanding that we aren’t perfect, and that’s ok. We all have our vices. Similar today, like in the 1970’s, we are living in a profound time. Something old, something new. We are designing a collection that has longevity, that is sustainable.
Is there a connection between the lens colours of the sunglass and the messaging that adorns the sides?
N & I:
We love the red Cadillac in Fear & Loathing which inspired the new two-tone retro sunglasses.
