Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo never intended to start a fashion label, nevermind a fashion revolution. In the ‘70s, when Kawakubo launched Comme Des Garçons, she focused on making clothes that she genuinely liked and that were rooted in her studies of art and literature. After finding much success with her label, Kawakubo launched a men’s line called Comme Des Garçons Shirt. The label focuses on using your everyday basics as a blank canvas to deconstruct and reinvent classic silhouettes.
The shirt-dominated collection includes easy ready-to-wear pieces like crewnecks and button-downs that are reimagined with distressed details, bold patchwork patterns and unconventional tailoring. The brand has enlivened casual-wear and turned it into an experimental realm that has gained a cult following. Discover more of our curated collection with features shirts and trousers.
