Finding meaning in crude yet humorous cartoons is what David Shrigley is best known for. As an artist and illustrator, Shrigley takes elements of everyday life such as the seemingly uninteresting musings of a child or the clever eye of a far-off observer and creates thought-provoking pointed ink illustrations that sometimes feature scribbles and even crossed-out-words. His knack for using his dark humor to tackle political and socio-economic issues extend to filmmaking and even an album with featuring artists such as David Byrne and Grizzly bear.
His work has been exhibited globally from San Francisco to Glasgow, where he lived and studied. His solo show David Shrigley: Brain Activity was nominated for the prestigious Turner Prize.
