In 1946, after designing for various French fashion houses, Christian Dior launched his own namesake line in Paris. He pioneered the revolutionary style coined the 'New Look'—a signature shape that featured a below-mid-calf-length full skirt, narrow waist and large bust— and established attention for his celebration of the female form. Today, Maria Grazia Chiuri serves as the house’s first ever female Creative Director, paving a new path geared towards inclusivity and female empowerment through seasonal collaborators who are icons in their respective fields. Chiuri’s broadened perspective has created an era for the heritage maison that projects a sense of global community, bearing the imprints of her collaborators and influences, while blending it with Dior’s historical opulence.
