In 1946, after designing for various French fashion houses, Christian Dior launched his own namesake line in Paris. He pioneered the revolutionary style coined 'New Look' by the editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar, Carmel Snow. The signature shape featured a below-mid-calf-length full skirt, narrow waist and large bust.

Today, Maria Grazia Chiuri serves as the house’s first ever female Creative Director. Chiuri is paving a new path for the world-renowned house, one that includes more casual wear, and uses Dior’s inherent femininity to empower women. Most recognizable were the timely “Why have there been no great women artists?” and “We should all be feminists” slogan tees that walked fashion shows at Paris Fashion Week. Chiuri is also known for her ethereal tulle gowns, which are now a staple on the red carpet. Discover more Dior in store.
