Debuting in New York Fashion Week with its FW19 collection, Rentrayage is Erin Beatty’s returns to design following the closing of her former brand Suno in 2016. Taking the time to reassess her next steps, Beatty found conviction to create new garments from vintage finds. All of Rentrayage’s pieces are one-of-a-kind and made from secondhand clothing that has been left behind, mobilizing the brand’s mission of sustainability.

The newly constructed products combine an unexpected mix of textiles and are cut into sharply tailored modern creations while maintaining the designer’s signature of playful design. Beatty discovered the term rentrayage in Cloth Lullaby: The Woven Life of Louise Bourgeois, a children’s book about the French-American artist. The term, which translates from French as a word for mending, aptly describes the process of the emerging brand and its commitment to building a more sustainable future for fashion.
