After Yaz Kurhan studied fashion in Paris, she worked at Givenchy alongside Alexander McQueen and at Maison Martin Margiela where she worked with Margiela himself. In 2000 Yaz co-founded an eccentric accessories line with her sister Emel in 2000. The sisters who are former Ottoman princesses as their family reigned in Egypt, have an A-list client list including Madonna, Björk and many more.
They use materials such as plastic and rubber to create surrealist and pop art pieces that are as quirky as they are functional. Their trompe l’oeil pieces have expanded to handbags, shirts and sweaters that keep the same pop references and playful elements as their famous accessories.
