The historic Parisian millinery that is Maison Michel was founded in 1936 by Auguste Michel making hats the likes of Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, and Valentino amongst a long list of couturiers it has catered to. Today, the Maison still resides at its original atelier at 65, rue Saint-Anne, operating under Chanel's Metier d'Arts group with design direction by Priscilla Royer, who has been heading up the heritage brand since 2015.

Hailing from Vivienne Westwood, the French designer looks to create new personas with the brand to fit a broader set of wearers without taking away from its source of core fedoras and felted caps. Though sophisticated styles made with luxurious materials and imaginative embellishments are ever present, there is also plenty room for quirky spins like a molded cap with cat ears that have captured the attention of a large following of celebrity clients.
