Rooted in the modernization of the uniform that is the men’s suit, Thom Browne started his menswear label as a small appointment-only boutique in the West Village neighborhood of New York City in 2001. Having worked at the Giorgio Armani showroom and designed at Club Monaco in his formative years, Browne has come to be recognized for impeccable American tailoring and sharp, updated casual suiting that straddles the worlds of traditionalists and sartorialists.
Known for his highly conceptualized and deeply thematic presentations, Browne has been honored with three CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year awards amongst other design laurels. Distinguishing features of the brand’s aesthetic include a modified preppy look with shrunken fits and cropped lengths that hints at a rebellious edge found on blazers, cardigans, and trousers. This visual extends to womenswear collections, launched in 2011 offering the signature crisp button-down shirts in accentuated fits.
