Beginning with a single style cardigan, Alanui was created by Nicolò Oddi in 2016 with his sister and muse Carlotta. The Italian brand was spurred by a vintage cardigan that Nicolo had gifted his sister before a trip to Hawaii. What resulted was a luxury label that specializes in jacquard cashmere pieces and is inspired by Native American iconography.
Motifs are painstakingly crafted, with each garment requiring over 10 hours to complete. Each knit is intended to be the perfect travel companion, and a capsule of the wearer’s stories told through textural records. The brand, whose name translate from Hawaiian to “the long path”, offers seasonless and unisex pieces intended to make lasting emotional connections along with providing utmost comfort. The collection has now expanded into several styles that remain grounded the Alanui spirit including ponchos and fisherman sweaters, as well as patterned buttoned cardigans, currently available at The Webster.
