For more than 60 years, Givenchy has been synonymous of Parisian sophistication. The French maison’s history began with Hubert de Givenchy’s childhood upbringing, where his mother and grandmother introduced the young boy to fabrics, naturally drawing him into the world of couture. Maison Givenchy was born in 1952, debuting with the “Separates” collection and has led the charge through some of the most formative decades of modern fashion representing timeless elegance with an edge.
Segueing from a strong period of pioneering luxury streetwear, today the powerhouse is led by Claire Waight Keller who is the first female director in the house’s 66-year history. Keller has brought back remnants of Hubert de Givenchy’s original design tenets, including graphic floral and animal prints, making stronger nods to haute couture while continuing to produce new iterations of contemporary favorites like the Antigona and Pandora bags.
