The Colombian born and French bred Haider Ackermann interned with John Galliano, has worked for design houses such as Dior and Martin Margiela, and was Karl Lagerfeld’s choice to succeed him at Chanel. Most recently, he exited as creative director of the classic menswear brand, Berlutti.
Haider Ackermann launched his womenswear label in 2001. He presented his first collection in Paris for autumn/winter 2002-03 and has become known for his masterful draping and avant-garde aesthetic. He unveiled his first menswear collection to critical acclaim, with the second collection presented two years later at the Men’s Fashion Week in Paris in July 2013. His signature draped forms and intricate design aesthetic has won a legion of dedicated followers from influential industry insiders. Although an exceptional and successful designer in his own right, he has earned the flattering compliment resembling “the new Yves Saint Laurent”.
