Happy Earth Day! The annual and worldwide event has had a number of landmark moments in history. As a Francophile, I am especially proud to tout that two years ago to the day, the landmark Paris Agreement was signed by more than 120 countries including the United States and China. In honor of this very special holiday, I am pleased to demonstrate my support of eco-minded fashion and share some of my most coveted sustainable style tips and key pieces this season. Thinking green—from the food we eat and the beauty products we use to fair-trade fabrics and zero-waste clothing production—is a must these days. No one knows that more than vegan designer, Stella McCartney, who’s luxury offerings run the gamut from all-natural canvas eyelet logo tote bags to ethically sourced le shocking pink silk off-the-soff-the-shoulder belted dresses. Other likeminded brands including LemLem and CVC Stones are proof that good-for-the-earth clothing, shoes, bags and accessories can be good looking. Some natural beauties worth calling out include Maison Michel’s Virginie nude straw hat, Lisa Marie Fernandez’s Ric Rac linen Mexican-inspired peasant dress and Loewe’s egg-heel slingbacks.
Or treat yourself with a senatorial experience of walking through a field of fresh cannabis post an afternoon rain shower. The leaves are fresh and lush with a dewy surface texture, the earth is warm from the morning sun and exudes an aromatic quality that is herbaceous and woody with an addictive underlining touch of sweet dirtines with a spritz of Gamine’s signature eau de parfum that mixes scents of dense Blue Hemp, Cote D'Azur Cypress, Vetiver Root, Chocolat Noir and wild Indonesian Patchouli. While not all of the aforementioned products are byproducts of exclusively sustainable brands, their thoughtful use of materials and down-to-Earth look is what I call shopping responsibly!
