About Onitsuka Tiger
One of the oldest and most respected footwear brands in Japan, Onitsuka Tiger was founded in 1949 by former military officer Kihachiro Onitsuka with the hopes of raising postwar youth self-esteem though athletics. The classic vintage-style look of this shoe has been featured in many aspects of pop culture throughout the last 7 decades, including Bruce Lee films but, perhaps most notably, when Uma Thurman wore a yellow pair Taiichi Mexico 66 sneakers in the Quentin Tarantino film 'Kill Bill'. The iconic Mexico 66 sneaker was introduced in 1968 during the pre-Olympic trials in Mexico City, sporting the brand’s famous ASICS stripe on a leather upper. In collaboration with the legendary arcade franchise Street Fighter, OT recreated the Mexico 66 in a colorway inspired by the game’s beloved heroine Chun Li.
