In 1925, Adele and Edoardo Fendi founded their namesake atelier as small leather goods boutique on Via del Plebiscito in Rome. With the help of daughter Paola, Anna, Franca, Carla and Alda, the Italian heritage brand has expanded and continued to thrive, maintaining its familial ties through generations to build a fashion empire. In 1954, Fendi introduced furs, a line the house has come to be known for as a result of innovation in use of the material.
In 1965, Karl Lagerfeld joined the brand, taking over artistic direction in a collaborative partnership that still stands today. Shortly after, the iconic “FF” logo was born. With ready-to-wear introduced in the 70s, the brand cemented its status as a world-class purveyor of Italian luxury fashion. Now nearly century-old, the maison is led by Silvia Venturini Fendi, who has instilled a contemporary spirit and adventurous designs into collections for men and women.
