L.A. Confidential

The Webster’s Founder and President, Laure Heriard Dubreuil, is heading west! What’s new, what’s hot, and what’s a must-do when you’ve only got 24-hours in the city of angels? Load up the car and let LHD, lead the way!

Ah, the Golden State! L.A. is where New Yorkers come to catch that Cali state-of-mind and golden glow. Only in L.A. is it perpetually 70 degrees. Only in L.A. can you squeeze-in a pilates class and a juice (moon juice is one of my faves) with friends during your lunch break. Only in L.A. does your workday begin at 10 A.M., after a morning surf lesson, and get to clock out before the sun goes down, just in time for a rooftop cocktail at West Hollywood’s E.P. & L.P. Then there’s the question of what to wear. Another perk of this west coast wonderland! Fashion, as we know it (i.e., trends come and go quicker than traffic on the 405 freeway), exists in a constant state of style particular to Beverly Hills, Brentwood, and Silver Lake residents. For a failsafe Hollywood getaway look, pack a pair of leather pants, ankle boots, and a slightly sheer and distressed tee, preferably by Alexnder Wang or Amiri. And, if you want to live local, make sure to pack a baseball hat conveniently in your carry-on because the moment you hit LAX, every purebred passenger will promptly pop a cap on. As for what to do during a brief stint in tinsel town, if you’re not staying at The Beverly Hills Hotel, be sure to visit their famous poolside restaurant, the Polo Lounge for breakfast. Everyone should experience a night at Chateau Marmont and Sunset Towers. I’ve always wanted to go to an L.A. Lakers game, so if I don’t make it this time around, catch them courtside for me? The vintage shopping along Brea Avenue is a bohemian dream. And, Mexican food, especially from The Gardens of Taxco, is even dreamier. So, rent a sweet ride, pop the convertible top, and get ready because we’re heading to the hills, the Hollywood Hills that is.

located at 607 Huntley DriveWest Hollywood, CA 90069.

One of my favorite brands to collaborate with—hence our ongoing specialty one-of-a-kind offerings, like our Soho Special Edition tie-dyed cashmere flamingo teddy—is The Elder Statesman. We always come up with luxuriously playful pieces.

Start the day in true L.A fashion. A hike up Runyon Canyon Park!
What to have: a cool pair of Nike sneakers, a cute cellphone case (for all those selfies!), and
since cameras are passé, a great camera bag, like Saint Laurent’s Lou camera bag is perfect for storing
sunscreen and all of your beauty essentials (for those quick on the go touch-ups).

Venice Beach, Ocean Front Walk, Los Angeles, Venice, California.

While I am most at home strolling Rodeo Drive, a stroll along the Venice Beach boardwalk is an adventurous experience unto itself. Once a Southern California outpost for avid surfers and free-spirited bohemians, this canal-meets-Pacific Coast neighborhood is more recently populated by Palo Alto techies. The boardwalk’s scenic street performers and muscle beach bodybuilders is still a fresh scene worth checking out!

Strike a pose! LHD, Nicole Richie, and Aurelie Bidermann smile for the cameras
while catching-up at the Balmain Paris dinner at the Chateau Marmont.
For similar styles check-out, Balmain’s lace-up long sleeve chambray shirt
and open-toe lace-up denim heels plunged mini dress and striped dress.

The shopping along Rodeo Drive is the best of the best. All the usual suspects from Dior and Valentino to Christofle and Frette. Window shopping or ready to throw down an American Express black card, be sure to dress the part. Go for a quintessential Los Angeles vibe: a simple sheathdress by Marni, Chelseaboots by Pierre Hardy, and a Who can forget Julia Roberts’ iconic scene in Pretty Woman!

The Beverly Hills Hotel 641 Sunset Blvd, Beverly Hills, CA 90210.

Iconic! The Beverly Hills Hotel is a beacon of old Hollywood charm—beginning with the exceptional service and A-list people watching, right on down to the baby pink and palm leaf green stripes—and a landmark luxury stay. Pack a pair of crisp For Restless Sleepers pajamas or pick up a pair of pink palace palm pajamas while you’re there.

Laure and Marcel spend some quality mommy-and-me time
while sitting poolside at The Beverly Hills Hotel.

Like Laure’s apres-swim style? Shop similar styles like LHD’s Key Biscayne printed bodysuit, and pair it with Aurelie Bidermann’s 18 K gold sapphire Chivor chain necklace and Stella McCartney oversized cat-eye sunglasses. And, don’t forget about The Webster childrenswear! Your little one will love this similar Warhol Owns Pop sweater by Lingua Franca and dad’s square frame sunglasses by Thom Browne.

Laure snapped at The Beverly Hills Hotel, wearing her namesake Glades dress paired with LHD X Aurelie Bidermann pink earrings, as well as her signature Aurelie Bidermann 18 K gold sapphire Chivor chain necklace, and Celine baby pink soft v-neck Nappa lambskin pumps, available at The Webster boutiques.

Hit the expected tourist attractions—the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre, Hollywood historical Forever Cemetery—on your next visit because you’ve only got 24-hours this go-around. Make it count with a breathe-life-spirit session with self-care practitioner Ashley Neese and a visit to the downtown gallery Hauser and Wirth before the Mike Kelley exhibition ends.

LHD and happy shoppers show off their custom LHD T-shirts at
The Webster South Coast Plaza store event. Here, LHD wears her namesake logo sweatshirt,
bird garden earrings, small Shella bag made in collaboration with Heimat Atlantica,
and Re/Done high rise jeans.

What a fun in-store event! I teamed up with Erica Domesek from P.S. I Made This for our first customization event where we offered LHD logo tees along with fun letter and shape patches
that can be ironed on.

Nobu Malibu, 22706 Pacific Coast Highway,
Malibu, CA 90265.

It’s the great debate, which is better, the fresh sushi or the oceanfront views at Nobu Malibu. Either way, a sunset reservation is well worth it. Other worthwhile eateries include Tenants of the Trees when on the east side, brunch at Botanica, Go Get Em Tiger, or Sqirl, but beware, there’s always a line. For a super late night spot, hit up The Nice Guy. If you’re more the type to chill with the crew in a cozy banquette or even try your hand at spinning tracks, then Doheny Room is your L.A. mecca. The David Rockwell–designed space features two bars stocked with classic cocktails, a photo booth, and a menu from Danny Elmaleh, who created the food at Miami’s Cleo to rave reviews.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art is always an enriching stop-off. Everyone loves the contemporary artist Chris Burden’s Urban Light installation, which features 202 restored cast iron antique street lamps. I’m excited to return in the Spring for David Hockney’s 82 Portraits and 1Stl-Life.

That’s all for now, see you soon
